What to Expect

At Calvary Kaleo

When you come on a Sunday morning, you will find a casual atmosphere with people dressed in all different styles.

Our service begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m. Starting with a time of worship, our music is chosen with the goal of glorifying God and edifying the body. It is a mixture of modern, biblically-centered songs along with hymns for a well-rounded worship experience. After the time of music, a verse by verse message from a book of the bible is taught. Following service, we enjoy a relaxing time of fellowship with coffee and refreshments. In the near future we will be starting a midweek study on Wednesday nights.

We go through the bible, one book at a time. The ladies study is Thursday and begins at 6:30 p.m. with fellowship followed by an in-depth interactive study ending around 8:00 p.m.

Sunday School for children from pre-school age to 6th grade is available. We welcome the children to stay with their families for worship and then join together with all the children for their own lesson during the adult Bible study.

Calvary Kaleo

Our History

Coming back from Europe in 2007 Shane & Randie Herman were dealing with a global change In their perspective while trying to find a place to fit in with the local church. Seeing such a deep need for relational ministry they knew there was a unique opportunity to start something with a focus on relationships with Jesus and one another not just another religious organization. God connected them with other like-minded people who recognized the same need for community in the local church and they prayed about what to do.

Calvary Kaleo began in 2009 with a desire to build the church, not just build a church.

Kaleo is a place where people can come to know Jesus, know one another & make Jesus known. People come to fellowship and belong to a family where they are loved and each person is important for who they are and not what they do. The focus is on the individual and families being built up in their relationship with Jesus.

The Lord has given us a vision and emphasis for ministry and we do our best to be led by the Spirit in following it.

Check out our Philosophy of Ministry Part 1 Part 2

We are grateful to all the local churches and excited to work with anyone who lifts up Jesus because we are not in a competition as we are all a part of building One Kingdom, the Lord’s.

Missions
Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Mexico: One of our Pastors, Peter Yee, has moved with his family to plant a church in Ensenada Mexico! We will be supporting them in every way we can as well as visiting them and serving alongside them as often as possible.

Romania: We are involved on a regular basis with both Calvary Chapel Bucharest and Calvary Chapel Brasov. Shane tries to visit as much as possible. In the future we hope to take teams again to hold retreats for both church in Bucharest and Brasov.

Local Mission: God has opened a door for us to support local missions. Ozzie and Apryl Ortiz have begun a new venture reaching out to young women equipping them with the Word of God and what it shares concerning Faith, Fashion and Fitness.

Currently we are involved in ministry in Mexico and Romania.

Why Jesus

Entering God's Kingdom

To enter God’s kingdom, you must be born again. Just look to Jesus Christ, who died for your sins on the cross, and believe in Him and His love for you, and that transformation will take place. Thus the question, "Have you been born again by the Spirit of God?" If not, the process is very simple.

Today you’re in one of two camps; it all depends on your relationship to Jesus Christ. You can both believe and look in faith to Jesus, who died for you on the cross; or you can continue going on as you are. It’s an amazing thing—to be lost; you don’t have to do anything. Just keep on doing what you’re doing now and you will perish.

But, if you look to the cross and believe in the One who died for your sins, then the free gift of God is yours... The gift of eternal life.

The Bible says:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God—Romans 3:23

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out—Acts 3:19

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life—John 3:16

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved—Romans 10:9

If you want a personal relationship with God and the assurance that your sins have been forgiven, here is a suggested prayer...

+ - Read More + Click to collapse

Father, I come to you, confessing my sin and asking for your forgiveness. I thank you, Lord, for You have promised that if I will confess my sins, You will be faithful to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I want to turn from my sins and live in a way that will please You. So I ask for your help, Lord. I ask that you give me the power, through your Holy Spirit, to live the right way.

I thank you that Jesus Christ died on the cross, paying the price for my sins, and then rose from the dead. I accept Him now as my Savior, my Lord, and my friend.

I also thank You, because You've said that whoever comes to You, You will in no way cast out. Thank you for giving me a new life in Christ. I surrender myself to you. Make me what you want me to be in Jesus' name. Amen.

Next?

If you have decided to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are now born again. Here are a few things that will help you to grow as a Christian:

PRAY—prayer is like a telephone line that goes directly to God. It's important to spend time talking to Him every day, the more the better. (Philippians 4:6)

READ THE BIBLE—the Bible is like a love letter from God. The more you read it, the more you'll fall in love with Him. (1 Peter 2:2)

FELLOWSHIP—you need to have friends who share your beliefs and who can encourage you. This is why it's so important to find a good, Bible-believing church where you can meet other Christians. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

WITNESS TO OTHERS—share your faith in Jesus Christ with others. Pray that the Lord will reveal how you should witness and when. (Mark 16:15)

God bless you. We pray you continue to grow closer to the Lord every day!

Our Beliefs

We are Evangelical:

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. We believe the Bible is the final authority in every area it addresses for every individual Christian, as well as for the church collectively. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21, John 10:35)

We believe there is one God who eternally exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that all things were created by Him and for Him. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 45:21-22, Matthew 28:19, Colossians 1:16)

We believe that God the Son became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ. That He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life (for He was without sin), died a substitutionary death for all mankind, was raised from the dead the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God until His enemies are made His footstool. (John 1:1, 14, Matthew 1:18-25, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 3:18, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 10:12-13)

+ - Read More + Click to collapse

We believe the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, and seals believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He empowers them to live as His witnesses. (John 14:16-17, John 16:7-11, Titus 3:5-6, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 1:8, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12-14, 1 Peter 4:10-11)

We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image. He created them sinless, equal in value, dignity, and worth. (Genesis 1:26-28, Ephesians 5:22-6:4, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)

We believe that, as a result of the Fall, all people are sinners by nature and in need of a Savior, and that Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior of the world. That salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Him. We believe that all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved eternally. (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:18-19, Matthew 1:21, 1 John 4:14, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9)

We believe there is one church, the body of Christ, consisting of men and women from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. We believe that each local congregation is an expression of that universal church. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 4:4, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Revelation 5:9, Acts 2:42-47)

We believe in the resurrection of the dead. Believers will be raised to life, and unbelievers to shame and everlasting contempt (hell). (Daniel 12:2, John 5:25-29, Revelation 21:1-22:5)

We are Continuationists:

We believe that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Scripture are available to, and active in His church today. (John 14:16-17, John 16:7-11, Titus 3:5-6, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 1:8, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12-14, 1 Peter 4:10-11)

We are Complementarian:

We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image. He created them sinless, equal in value, dignity, and worth. According to His purpose and design, God created to fulfill distinct but complementary roles in the contexts of marriage, family, and the local church.” (Genesis 1:26-28, Ephesians 5:22-6:4, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)

We are Premillennial:

We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth, to sit upon the throne of David and rule over the house of Jacob (Israel), and the entire cosmos, forever. (Revelation 20:1-6, Luke 1:31-33, Isaiah 9:6-7)

We are Pre-tribulational

We believe the church will be delivered from the “hour of trial” which will come upon all who dwell on the earth, being “caught up” in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (the Rapture). (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1 Corinthians 15:51-55, Revelation 3:10)
